I just happen to have 8 (don't ask) 1787 Ct Miller 1.1-A pieces. I think
that I can make the assumption that these were all minted at the same place
over a short peroid of time. I wonder what the analysis of these 8 coins
might show us. If we do have the analyzer at C4, I will bring them a long.
In addition to having different varieties to test, does it make sense to
have a large sampling of a few identified varities to see what this tells
    us?

    Hi All,

Before I start tonight I once agian wish to point out that since these tests
were performed on such a limited number of coins that I for one am not ready
to draw any conclusions from such a limited amount of data. I do feel that
with some of these coins the testing raises possibilities and questions as
in the V14-84A Machins I am posting tonight. The test readings on the
V14-84A are as follows: Cu (copper) 91.97%, Pb (lead) .94%, Zn (zinc) 4.29%
and Sn (tin) 2.31%. Interesting in that the content of material of this
coin is that as one would expect to find in a cast coin or raises the
possibility that this coin is an example of a coin struck on a cast blank.
I also have the results from a 1753 G-II cast coin: Cu 83.3%, Pb 3.72%, Zn
10.1%, Sn 1.34% and very interesting Fe (iron) 1.25% which has a much higher
melting point then that of copper.

I would like to suggest and look forward to hearing comments back but I
believe it would be interesting to have this analyzer available at C-4 this
year and that as many coins as possible be measured and weighed to see if
any significant conclusions (opinions) might come from a broader data base.
I will post the pic of the 1752 G-II cast coin once I recieve permission
    from the owner.

    Ray T.
