I live about 20 miles from Boalsburg, PA, the birthplace of Memorial
Day, Ray. They are having a Civil War re-enactment today around the
Military Museum there, along with the usual line-up of community
parades there and in surrounding communities.
The way I understand it Memorial Day was started by a small group of
women from that community shortly after the Civil War. I think it
would be good for us to also remember the veterans of perhaps the
most important war that our Nation has ever faught, that being the
War for our Independence. I don't mean to put one above the other,
but I think its a good idea to also remember those who gave us what
we've been fighting to keep ever since.
