If the RI is a spoof on overyone, then why are the Yanks running away and the Brits lounging in harbor? Why did the coiner(s) make every effort to expunge vlugtende from below the Brit ship, even to the point of physically scraping it off some of the coins? Who could have made it in 1779 with the sort of zinc content it has but a Brit?
The preponderance of the evidence suggests the piece is pro Brit propaganda.
You're right about the sideways 4 not being one. Also notice how the reverse photos are out of alignment (Brit shield goes at the top).
