Byron:
Betts' Novum Belgicum fantasy was introduced to the public and
became a big cause celebre after Crosby published Early Coins.
That's why you find no mention of Betts' stuff in that book.
I catalogued the Crosby electrotype reference collection for
Stack's. I believe that Crosby made his electros to illustrate
his book and for other teaching purposes. Betts made his struck
copies for purposes not entirely clear but probably not
pedagogical.
