    I don't think you can use SG to decide if a coin is cast but rather use it as
    one of the tools available. The key elements in identifying a "contemporary"
    cast are the visual ( signs of port's and filing, blurring of letters, gas
    bubbles) for example. Then I feel that measuring weight and
    vertical/horizontal diameters are of key importance. In the case of well
    made "contemporary" cast's I have found that SG and the use of XRF to aid in
    reaching a decision. Are these tests fool proof... no... but they can be
    helpfull.
