    Hi Roger,

I find the study of metallurgy may eventually prove to be helpfull in the
study on Colonials but I am reluctant to speculate beyond that. Right now I
want to measure and record as much data as possible and see if any
conclusions might be able to be drawn from this data.........I do know that I
am getting a great deal of pleasure just from the hunt!

I have excellent news in regards to future testting, I spoke with Volker
today and it is agreed that he will spend a full day at C-4 2003 next year.
We have set the date for that Friday of the convention on November 7, 2003.
The only difference is that I will schedule the testing at a workable pace so
that Volker and I can take a few breaks to stretch our legs a bit. Just as a
notice anyone wishing to have coins tested please email me privately as I
will schedule time slots depending on the number of coins each person has.
I'll send out a reminder in August of next year with a requirement that
anyone interested have their emails into me by the end of September so a
reasonable schedule can be made and this time everyone will have a shot at
    getting items tested.

Another notice is that his company has agreed to allow me to come down once
a month over 2003 to have any group of coins tested where I would spend the
day at their Billerica facility. I'll continue with testing the remaining
coins in my collection as well as any other coins people may wish to send me.
The turn around time would be approximately 30 to 45 days for each person to
    get their items back.

I'll be finished with typing up the results of the testing from C-4 and from
my other trips on Sunday afternoon. I've downloaded PDF creator so I should
be able to post this results with a PDF file on Sunday evening. Just a note
I will not be drawing any conclusions from these results and I won't until
I've seen quite a few more numbers than I presently have on file. It will be
fun to discuss possibilities but for me that's where I will let it lie for
    the time being.

Roger........I saw your post to Clem on the fine malt. If your a connoiseur
of good Scotch, I've collected over the past 15 years a collection of 30 to
40 year old aged malts and will bring a few bottles from the collection to
next years C-4. I normally break these out over the Holidays and I can't
think of a better Holiday than C-4!

    Take care,

    Ray T.
