    Hi Syd,

I would be happy to do so and would welcome any guidance. I can try and put
together a first draft in the next few weeks - would that work as a start?

    Best Regards,

    Dave T.

I'd like to see you work up an article for C4 Newsletter. We could work it
in to the pubs during this year. Syd Martin

Hi there - Ray W. kindly sent me a note alerting me that there were
some questions concerning the 3-D.1 sold on EBay about 18 months ago.
I did purchase the piece (from Lockdale's) and still have it.

The coin is quite high grade, yet I hesistate to put forth an opinion
as to VF, XF, whatever - because I haven't seen other high grade
pieces with which to reference the coin. Nevertheless it is
a beautiful coin. I purchased it as a type piece, and though the
price (3k) was not a total steal - I don't regret it at all.

According to Lockdale's, the coin walked in off the street with a
small group of coppers - mostly British. They said that the piece had
been in the holding of the same person for nearly 100 hundred years,
and Lockdale's was surprised (and quite happy) that the piece
generated so much interest (a.k.a. - return on their investment).

I have been toying with the idea of writing up the acquisition as an
article for C4 - with the subject being "Starting a Provenance". I
have retained all documentation from the purchase (bid history, emails
from Lockdale's, etc), and if the piece really is new to the
collecting community, then it's introduction might as well have all
the information that I have on it. Opinions are welcome.

If you have an questions please let me know.

    Best Regards,

Dave Townson (C4 and EAC Member)
