Thanks, I think getting a group together would be great. Unless its
outrageously expensive or a bad day, I'm in.
    Leo

PS: Do we know the date (one day?) yet?

    Hi Leo,
The COAC's are academic. There are a series of speakers and a nice
spread for lunch. I believe that a group may go out to a nice restaurant
for dinner after. I like to show up when the doors open in the AM and hang
out in the library - make the most of a trip to NY. I don't know what the
costs are. Maybe we could get a group to go in together. I normally head
back to NJ after the COAC is complete.

    Ray

Thanks for the info. I have never been to a COAC but this is one I will
definately be considering. Maybe someone in the group could give a brief
overview of a past conference they've been to. How long do they last? How
much do they cost? Class size? Are they more hands on or academic?

Also, anyone having more details on this conference, please post it.

    Thanks
    Leo

Although the dates have not been finalized yet, the ANS will be having a
COAC this Spring in NYC. It will be titled:"Our Nation's Coinages: Varied
Origins". It's concept is to take a generic look at the coinages of the
Colonial period made both in and for the Americas - British, Spanish,
French, Dutch - as well as other homeland issues, which circulated in the
colonies or influenced their economies. Some possible topics are:

    American Archaeological finds and reports

Discoveries and observations in Spanish Mint productions, Mexico, El Peru,
    etc.

    Colonial varieties recently identified

    Documentation of colonial commercial activities

    Numismatic interpretation of shipwrecks

If you have a topic you'd care to present in about a half hour's time, and
if it's a publishable type article, then please contact Robert Hoge at
    hoge@amnumsoc.org <mailto:hoge@amnumsoc.org> or call 212-234-3130 ext 226.

This COAC sounds like a winner. As soon as I hear anything about dates or
speakers, I'll keep you all updated.

    Ray W
