I can only speak for myself, but I believe I am a serious collector. 1) I
am well past half way on the Virginia Halfpence by die variety as well as
doing research on them. 2) I Have a good though not complete type set of
colonials by both 'Red Book" and "Real" colonial coins. 3) I have more than a
dozen by die variety in at least six other types that leap to mind. Several
of these are far heaver in R-5's and R-6's than in R1's. 4) I also always try
to support anyone out there who is doing research with any help I can offer.
5) I maintain and study a large library on colonial coins. I would think that
anyone who can claim over half of the die varieties in a series or half the
Red Book types is a serious collector. Alan - 2003-02-18
