Having been involved in educational events for a number of organizations,
you'd be surprised at the number of people that I ask to give a presentation
decline because they don't talk in front of groups. For some it can be a
very traumatizing experience. Poor Clem at the last C4 was so nervous ahead
of time, but relaxed and gave a great presentation. But many can't be
talked into writing or giving a presentation - not to stay anonymous, but
because they don't want to.
Oh, the NJ collerctor John was referring to was O'Donnell, not McDonnell. I
would call him a serious collector. I was aware that important coins could
not be accounted for and they ended up being in his collection. I did not
know he existed until his coins were consigned to Stack's. I have friends
that are collecting colonials in areas that they are not known to specialize
in, and they want to keep it secret for a number of reasons. Being in the
public eye is not necessary to be a serious collector. We are all serious
collectors, each in our own way.

along with Mass. silver and various other coppers of this period, but I
really do not talk in groups or write articles. Does this mean I am not a
serious collector??? I would really like to know. Maybe I'm considered a
novice and don't know this fact. Joe
