--- I don't think having the money to buy mega coins is a criteria for being a serious collector. I'm seriously broke if that accounts for anything. Nor is attendance at C4 conventions, I've never been to one. Until this group started I didn't even know any other collectors. Still, I have 22 Machin varieties, 50 or so New Jerseys (no 71-y), 75 Connecticut varieties,100 nice British and Irish counterfeit halfpence, and various other foreign coins that circulated in colonial America, medals, ect ect. I have spent hundreds of dollars on books and spent numerous hours in libraries doing research ,yet you couldn't get me to stand up in front of a group of people and give a talk. Well, maybe for a R-7 Machin I might give it a whirl. I would like to write some things as well, but missing those four years of high school has diminished my writing skills to a degree.I do try once in a while and will continue to do so. I will probably collect these little chunks of copper until I die. I can't think of any other thing I would rather do ,and that, in my opinion, makes me a serious collector. Marc
