Hello again Leo-
My Krause 1701-1800 is the first edition. For some reason, the catalogers chose not to include any Spanish 2 Reals that were dated earlier than 1754. (Lousy job on their part, IMHO). Maybe Ray's 2nd edition has some information on the 1708's. (But I would not count on it).
There is another aspect to your question. In 1708 (actually 1707 to 1714) there were 2 'kings' of Spain, each minting coins as King. They were Phillip V (supported by the French troops of Louis XIV) and Charles I (supported by King Leopold of the Holy Roman Empire). (The War of the Spanish Succession). So, we need to know if your coin says Philippvs or Carolvs. Then, the mint. The possible mint marks are a crown 'M' (Madrid), 'S' (Seville), and a stylized castle (Segovia) for Phillip V coins. The 2 Reals of Charles I were made in Barcelona and have a big script CAROLS III in the center of the dated side.
(Common date/mintmark) pieces of either king show as worth about $75 in EF in a book by Jesus Vico. The 1708 from Seville, however, lists at about $300).
If you want, send me a scan privately.
Best, Bill
