Great coin Morris! Did you get this at auction or was it a private sale? I have the 23-R Maris Plate coin, which is not as sharp a grade as yours. It was the one coin I came out of the O'Donnell Sale with. It was one of the few "bargains" that night, but still expensive.

See pics enclosed. Can you imagine this in a Slab? What do we do; slab the envelopes also.

There just aren't enough colonials to go around to fuel registry fanaticism and I can't really imagine bidding wars over 'finest slabbed' AU53 coppers
JA............How easy is it to forget the 1963 or 64 "or whatever it was" Lincoln cent graded MS-70 and sold for $37,000.00 to the registry! Believe me there are enough Colonials to go around and you will see them come out of the woodwork once rediculous prices are realized. Greed has many forms and I truly am disgusted with PCGS, NGC and the whole batch of those "con-artist"!
The slabbing companies have no desire to help in identifying and grading Colonial Coins.......Hell the "morons" can't even tell the difference between a copy of a 1793 Liberty Cap cent from the real thing. Bottom line: dealers with big bucks will find another avenue to exploit numismatics and the true collectors will suffer for it. Yes in an open auction competition can be very competitive amongst Colonial collectors but don't forget these collectors saw the coin in the "raw" and knew what they were bidding on......hence a rise in prices realized.
I find the grading services about the most disgusting aspect of numismatics outside of "Bullet Sales" or better yet "Teletrade"!
Next we will be seeing our most endeared coppers gold plated and colorized on QVC.
