    Morris,

    Untill recently, they were regarded as separate varieties. However, I
    think Bill Anton (others chime in on who it was) observed that they
    were simply differant die states of the same variety. Nevertheless,
    most people try to collect each die state. There is some disagreement
    around the rarity of each die state.
