The proof which was pulled by me has prompted further inquires
concerning Sportack's work but in a positive way. The census of
original 1793 proofs (Prodmore 5A) with the repunched S in GEORGIVS
needs to be examined more closely concerning the 6-7 specimen
Sportack BELIEVES exist. I have been working with him on other
rarities in this series over the last six months involving
specifically the very rare silver restrike issues. The specimens are
no longer able to be photographed. One sold and the other has been
returned to the consigner (the UNC). Off the top of my head all UNC's
are later restrikes (post-1793) anyway - I believe and are irrelevant
to this inquiry.
