    The D/S is a counterfeit, BTW, Les, despite its having been certified
    as genuine.

    What did you think about the 1785 date. From the close up, it looks
    as though the "85" were later punched into the die, over another
    date. The seller says that the coin is struck and not cast and no
    engraving,..........what do you think????? It is interesting!

    Inconclusive, but I will be checking it against the known varieties
    before it closes. At least two new varieties have been discovered
    since Newman's '88 article, both in England. Actually I think Anton's
    example was brought over from England before Newman's article was
    published.
