With regard to grading, am I the only one that remembers WAY back to about
1957 when I started collecting coins( Lincolns) and was taught that a coin
can grade no better than it's worst side? I don't do that anymore either,
as I would never buy a coin! I believe that grading each side independently
of each other, then coming up wirh an overall grade is most fair to the
buyer. Sellers should be dealing fairly<s>, really, but it often doesn't
happen in other venues. Thank the good Lord, we normally don't even have to
think about fairness in Colonials, as it seems built into most of the
dealers that belong to C4, at least. I am nOT suggesting a net grade, so
much as a fair grade for the total coin, based upon both sides. Maybe an
average grade is the word I'm looking for. If a coin grades VF obverse, F
reverse, it is neither Fine or Very Fine, but possibly something in
between. This with problems accurately as possible described, for all three
    sides. David=20

Oh boy Steve, good point; I was talking only of pieces struck without
    collars.

    That's a great point Gord.
If I sound unducated in this area, it is only because I am.
    Not a strike expert//tekkie...here goes...
Do collars get old and beat up whre you canhave new dies but old=20
    collars affecting the edge???

    ouch,
    steve
