I am in no way advocating DOING the census from photos/images, but rather
that any census going forward needs to include high quality images of each
specimen, IN ADDITION to the textual descriptions. Any coin to be
officially included in the census MUST be viewed in the copper.=A0 Now as t=

As for b/w versus color =E2=80=A6.. Both serve separate purposes in my opin=
ion.=A0
Black/white tends to show surface features/contrast (i.e., flaws,
striations, nicks, marks, etc., etc.) better than color.=A0 But in order to
show overall color and/or toning anomalies (wood-grain, blotches, etc.)
color is needed.=A0 So perhaps to even confuse the issue more, dual photos
(b/w and color) need to be incorporated into the censuses?=A0=A0 (I like ma=
king
more work for other people !!)<BR>
