Roger (S.),
Many thanks for the Ryder 9 images and the photography advice. I've been reading/studying through the other posts that responded to yours as well as the earlier ones as you suggested. The information has been very helpful. I'm going to build (soon or at least by the end of the month) a stand for m= y Sony Mavica MVC-FD95. It is only 2.1 mega pixels but I am hoping that will be adequate. It has a 10X optical zoom which is pretty handy. So at some point in the future I hope to be able to share photos of my Vts and a few others.
Thanks again for your help.
Brad

Brad,
Here is a photo of my Vermont Ryder 9. I shot it with a Nikon Cool Pix 990. I use a tripod with the lens about 4 1/2 inches from the coin which I slightly elevate using three felt tabs stuck together that are used to prevent furniture scratching on hardwood floors.I use a yellow background (post its). I use "Fine" image quality, Auto white balancing, Macro Close-u= p for Focus and surpress the Flash.
As I mentioned in my last post, I think lighting is the most crucial element in taking photos and have experimented a great deal with this. I guess I like the the 10:00/2:00 dual lighting positioning the best with maybe 2/3s of the lighting coming from 10 and 1/3 coming from 2. After I shoot the image, I run the photos through Adobe Photoshop. I first eliminat= e the background using the "wand" feature. I find this important per Syd's earlier comment to get a white background because it is very hard to get a natural white background without a lot of work. White does not read white t= o your camera. Also, the wand eliminates surrounding shadow which I find distracting. I don't stitch my photos because of how my data base works but some do. Finally I reduce the image size to about 750/750 pixels. It never quite comes out perfect like that but I get close (750X600ish) and that is good enough for all my needs including storage, e-mail etc.
The other Roger (Roger S.)
