Good luck Ray....most of them have probably had some
sort of collection in the past or present...so you
would probably be better off keeping the flow towards
collecting in general with the more detailed side of
NJ's working in and out of the talk, eventually
dominating the talk, but with the the "everyone has
collected something" motif still being worked in and
out.
And collectors are collectors....we can say things
here because we are all coin people, but do not make
fun of beanie baby collectors...baseball
card...bubblegum wrapper..or whatever collectors. I
would want to lead them towards coins without
offending them for what they now collect.
You're a bright guy with a lot more common sense than
I have, so I don't know why I am even telling you
this. I haven't spoken to a group in a long time, but
when I did it was usually to VP's and up who were
non-technical people I was trying to sell on a system
re-write or new system and I believe I have made most
mistakes possible when speaking. I became pretty good
at it eventually , but have not done it for so long I
would probably be nervous and rusty.
A book I read on public speaking stated that the
number one problem with people is they get nervous and
tend to talk to fast. Slow down. And a couple
seconds of silence is better than "Ummm" anyday.
