This is really beautiful Jim. I notice it is cast. Is
that the norm when working with something so ornate
    and detailed.
Having been around sculptors and engravers (in stone)
my whole life, I can appreciate the depth of the
design. I was fine sandblasting through stencil's I
would create, but the deep carvings (you can see the
curves in the portraits and flowers) were done by very
capable people. (For some reason, it seemed always
    first generation from Italy)
All af these artists have since left the small
monument shops throughout the country and moved to
where the quarries are. There they are in constant
demand for special orders, as the cost of their
services in small towns kept their work to a minimum.

    Enough about stones....nice coin,
    Thanks Jim,
    Steve
