I also attend every Thurs night practice. I purchase $100 worth of quarters every time a new State commemorative comes out - mostly for church friends that have started collecting them. Unfortunately, I don't see any potential future colonial collectors, but one can hope...

Yes Ray!!! Your are absolutely correct!!! The sound is only as good as the sound man!!! He is as much a part of the team as any other. (if not more so)
In fact, we make the sound man come to practice with us!

    John,
Your guitar has history and romance attached to it, just like these small metal discs we go crazy about. I have no musical ability but I run the sound system at church. I'm the one that makes you guys sound so good <BG>

    Ray,
I have 5 guitars. But, my favorite is a 1968 Gibson JS-Jumbo Acoustic Guitar.
Over the years I have played it so much that I have almost worn 2 holes in it. The guitar is like an old friend. It was with me in my basement rock bands in the 80's and now it comes with me to church where I am the worship leader. I had to really cut down on playing it because of the damage/wear I was inflicting. (not the listeners, the guitar)......... Anyway, I went out and bought a brand new fancy Guild guitar with a built in electric pickup so I could play "plugged in" as well as playing "unplugged". The new guitar costs over 1200++ bucks and is very nice. However, it can't hold a candle to my old gibson! The tone is incredible in this old vintage guitar! (holes and everything) It is still my favorite!
    John
PS This has nothing to do with coins but you can draw a lot of analogies from this piece!

    Steve,
The Guitar is Diane's - something inexpensive she bought in the 60's in High School. I don't think she's played it since then either. It was one of the things we needed to get out of her mother's house, awaiting a proper place to be stored. Of note though.. my pastor at church plays a Gibson from the early 60's through a tube amp of the same time period...
Thinking of music, that's what we're missing at the C4 receptions in Boston... With all the A/V equipment I bring, we should be able to have a little background music. Maybe this year if we can agree on the type of music to play. Thinking about background music, did you ever think in the 60's that you'd hear Hendrix or the Doors or Led Zeppelin being played as elevator music!!!!!!!
    Ray
