HI Roy; Thank you for sharing this with me. I am going to learn how to do this,....= .....everybody is correct,.......pictures are needed,........it will take t= ime, but I'm sure that I can do this properly Regards Mario ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Roy Bonjour=20 To: colonial-coins@yahoogroups.com=20 Sent: Thursday, January 15, 2004 9:44 AM Subject: [Colonial Numismatics] to Mario
Mario: This is the only the second correspondence I have ever had with you. I un= derstand your feelings about computers and cameras. I also feel that you ca= n make changes if you want to. The camera is the easiest to learn and it's = a lot of fun. You have probably read all of the technical stuff that has be= en shared about photography and it seems somewhat complicated. You can take= nice pictures without all of the complications. They will not be, but coul= d be, perfect. The digital camera today is simply magnificent. You can get = very close and see the coin on a screen in back of your camera before you s= hoot. To start with you don't need a professional set up. I've had a lot o= f luck by taking pictures outside by sunlight. Unfortunately we are in the = northern climes and winter really cuts into that idea.=20 You frequently attend coin shows that are also attended by people who com= municate with you through this site. If you could meet some of these people= at a show and take a few pictures with their cameras, you'll see it's real= ly easy. I believe in block building and this is the first step.
There are words and there are pictures. BOTH are very important in today'= s world. I've read many of your ideas and they seem to have a great deal of= validity (Unfortunately I'm a Vermont guy and most of this stuff is from a= nother planet.) What people are telling you is that pictures help clarify c= oncepts.=20
Mario, don't buy a camera. Use them first. (Let's hope that some of you g= uys will bring your cameras to a show.)
Mario, there is a way to do this without the computer. Take your card (li= ke film) to one of the stores like Wal-Mart, Target, etc and they will prin= t them for you. Where I am (CT) it costs 29 cents fir a 4X6). Good luck, Roy
