Ray, There is Fort A.P. HILL where the National Boy Scout jamboree is hald
every 4 years. I believe he as well as Jackson were "winning" generals, for
years, just didn't end up winning. David

    Robert,
I remember Tank Hill well. Our unit was Charlie -1-1. I learned a lot
in those 8 weeks. Then off to Benning and Gordon. Were all these Forts
named after Confederate Generals? They should be named after some winning
    generals <BG>

    Ray,
I went through FT Jackson also; 'Tank Hill.' I think they bulldozed them
down for the newer units, the ones with 'air conditioning' and bigger
latrines (instead of the one shower per 60 soldiers). Fun was.

    Steve,
I'm the same way with the optomotrist - the last time I had an eye
    exam
was at Fort Jackson, SC back in '72. I'm getting along okay with these
    drug
store reading glasses but I think I'll appreciate coins much more if I
    got a
    prescription pair of reading glasses.
