In his article in the Colonial News-Letter about the Stepney Hoard,
Phil Mossman posited that the reason the hoard from Stepney,
Fairfield County, Connecticut, had no New Jerseys, Fugios, or
Massachusetts coppers and predominantly had Connecticut coppers is
because the state coppers of the Confederation period usually
circulated within the borders of their states, and not outside them.
Does the pattern of coin finds confirm this? I.e. are most finds in
Vermont Vermonts, most finds in Connecticut Connecticuts, etc.?
