Peggy Gillette just sent me a CD with about 75 photos of some of the
relics found in the Capron Virginia area which she is calling several
1700's dig sites. She has permission from the owners to detect at
these sites. In reviewing the scans here is the synopsis of the hoard
at this point:
1. Several Virginia Halfpennies.
2. One or two counterfeit halfpence
3. A good array of cut 8 Reales mostly in quarters. Some very well
preserved.
4. Military buttons and many non-listed buttons. Some one-pieces and
mostly two piece types.
5. An array of rings and generic colonial artifacts.
6. Other colonial items which I could not identify but of a non-
coin/button nature.
Is this soemthing I should write-up for CNL as I did for the Newburg
hoard article. I will E-Mail her back and ask strictly for images of
ALL the coins in these digs. What do the CNL editors think or the
members of this Chat Room??? - 2004-02-20
