Bowers Sold again,.........also, Spectrum is on the "Buy" as
well,....acquiring outside companies,........from coins to sport
auction services. Is this a good future for a "collector" base or is
it perhaps better if one was a "investor".
As a collector,...the conglomerization of numismatic companies are
forcing price increases on coins and their key dates,......pushing
the key dates out of sight!
Buisness strategies I guess you would call it,.......but what is
happening to the collector,......such as all of us in the colonial
    field.
I do believe that by these companies acquiring other key company
assets,......the third party grading services are going to get
richer,.......the holding companies will soon,.......as they are
now,......mandating that coins must be slabbed to sell through their
    auction network.
When was the last time that a Bowers auction, auctioned a key
    date,....such as a 1893-S Morgan Dollar in MS-63 unslabbed??????
the answer, probably in the early 1980's.
I see this network eventually getting into the colonial
    field,.....soon to acquire,........C-4 auction
network,............and if this does,.......the colonials at sale
would be "slabbed",.........a key holding company policy! This will
certainly tear into the background and backbone for research and
further knowledge in the field of colonials.
Reading through coinworld nowadays,.......it's like reading a
political forum,..........this company acquiring this company through
stock option payouts,.......where in the hell does this end???????
BRING BACK THE GOOLD OLD DAYS when one could go to a show or a
auction and bid on the merits of the coin instead of the slab!!!!!!!!!
I can remember when you could buy new jersey coppers unattributed all
day long for $20 to $50 each,............that is why, I feel that
once the John J. Fords and the Eric Newmans are gone,........then
colonials will eventually take presedent for the high almightly
dollar instead of the research collector who blue collar paycheck
will no longer be able to buy these any longer,.........
LETS C-4 BAND TOGETHER AND IF EVER NEED TO BE, PETITION THE OUTSIDE
CONGLOMERATES TO BACK OFF,.............WE WILL NOT SELL TO THE DEVILS
    ADVOCATE!!!!!!!!!!
