Mario, If this device truely dates back to the time George III counterfeits were being produced, it could have a lot of research value based on the make up of the "iron"/steel that was used at that time. It would provide us some insight into the level of smelting and steel production that was available to the counterfeiters. On the other hand an analysis of the device's metal may point to a more recent date for it's production. In either event, a metallurgic analysis of the metal composition of this piece would be very interesting. Roger
