Ray,
I was just in DC attending a meeting regarding this subject. While
the future is not entirely clear, they are going to continue to
maintain the collection and, at minimum, exhibit some coinage as part
of other exhibits that will show the role of medals and money in the
context of historical events. In the meantime, there are plans being
formed/considered for a possible travelling exhibit, a possible new
home for the material, or even long term loans of this material to
other Numismatic Instituions with the facilities and wherewithal to
securely exhibit the material.
Net net, more to come on this matter.
