Jim, I bought it as real about 10 or so years ago. I know nothing about these. It's about an inch long. It has a hole rinning through the length, I understand it was threaded and worn around the neck as some christians might wear a cross today. I'd love to know what it says. I think that coin collectors also have an interest in anything old, and most of us may collect in another area other than numismatics. I have a friend who is well respected among NJ specialists, who collects different types of bubble gum. Another NJ friend has a significant collection of sand pails! I wonder if anyone cares to share other collecting interests they have... Interesting piece Ray. Is it genuine? Your scarab is a Royal Seal - the name of a Pharaoh or King depending on date - evidenced by the enclosing line around the entire. This is a mirror image of the impression that would be made in wax. If translatable - it will take some time. I do not recognize any of the symbols, especially the predominate at the left!

Hi All, Sorry for going off topic, but among you all are many experts in many areas, and others that know experts. I own this Egyptian scarab and was wondering if anyone has a connection that could translate the heiroglyphs on the bottom... Any help would be appreciated.Ray
