I don't have the pages with me, John, but I'm certain that Batty did
denote cast pieces in his descriptions. There is likely a cast for
every year, whether Batty caught it or not, and several for some
years.
Unlike Atkins, who described Evasions that were "reported to him" I
think Batty's listings were only of specimens that he himself owned.
I'm not sure about that, but it is interesting to read his listings
and get a feel for what was going through the minds of 19th Century
collectors. I'm sure we'll look back on the 20th Century in much the
same way, if we live long enough!<s>
