Hi Guys,
I received my Numismatist later than usual this month, but I have to say that the articles that John Kraljevich has been writing (over the past year or so) in this ANA publication, are alone worth the cost of the dues to this colonial collector! On page 62 of the April Numismatist is John's article about gold coins trading in the colonies. Specifically the Joe. Although I don't collect colonial time period gold coins and I'm not likely to in the near future, this article is a good read and gives us a better perspective of the time period.
Also of great interest is on page 112 - a collector advertising a collection of 105 different Horse Head NJ Coppers! How often does that happen? From what I've heard, many of the great collectors got their best coins by purchasing extensive collections and then selling off the unneeded varieties. But alas, I barely have enough funds to make it worthwhile to get a bidder card for the next Ford Sale (but I have high hopes of adding one or two CT Type coins to my collection). Purchasing this collection intact is not in my budget. But if one of you becomes the new owner, I would love to sit down with you for an evening and look at your coins!
I expect to see awesome articles about colonial coins in CNL and the C4 Newsletter - that's what they're dedicated to. But it is always a pleasant surprise to be entertained by a colonial article where it may not necessarily be expected.
It's always nice, too, to get surprise phone calls from my coin friends. I get no work done but I sure enjoy myself! I'll have to delete this post from the computer so Diane doesn't see it! <BG>
