I'd like to give a personal thank you to Buell Ish. When I explained to him what had happened with the Machin's Mills 1/2d, I made a tongue in cheek comment about wishing I spoke German so I could call these people to have a real conversation with them instead of "translated emails" back and forth(I had tracked down their number). When he told me he spoke German and offered to talk to them I was elated. He reported back to me after speaking with the sellers husband, making the rest of my communications with the seller much easier. (He found out she is American living in Germany and speaks perfect English)
Even though I didn't get the coin, I was able to appreciate something else I have that is more valuable than the coin, the friendship of people who will go out of their way to assist a fellow collector when he's in need. I hear people ask what they get by being a member of C4. They are sometimes disappointed that they do not get more than a couple Newsletters per year. I like to look beyond the terrific newsletter, and appreciate the friends I've made here, and now think I shouldn't be asking what can I get by being a member of C4, but rather what am I able to give.
