Summary 1817 Matron Head Large Cent, eitherway, a "unique" major error within the s= eries. PLEASE NOTE that the coin pictured below is 1000% better then what the pict= ure indicates. being copper, it is hard to lighten to a pleasurable viewing= level. Always a full refund!!!!!!!! First of All, this listing may seem odd, but I have been a copper collector= for 32 years and an ex-EAC and C-4 member. I am well known within the EAC = community, so my credentials are superb. What I am offering, is a "genuine" large cent that is a major; error and ce= rtainly extremely rare or even "unique" This large cent has two obverses an= d is considered a "double-head" or a "Flip over strike" however, the revers= e undertype cannot be seen at all due to the low condition of the coin itse= lf. Please read on,........................................................= ................................! AUTHENTIC: Yes, without any doubts. This is based on examination that there= are no seams, casting marks, re engraving, tooling and put-together impair= ments on the coin, on the edge, rim or fields near the edge,...............= ..it is perfect and any circulated cent should be! COLOR OF THE COIN: This large cent is 100% original in color and wear. No p= re-existing burnishing, scratches, abrassives or chemical make-up in on thi= s coin,................100% natural. THE RING TEST: is perfect for a natural large cent and not a dull thumping = sound. any impairments to this coin would leave a dull suspicious sound. SIZE AND WEIGHT: The size and weight are "perfect" for the grade of this co= in, GOOD-4. SURFACE DESCRIPTION: Bothsides show "full obverse" struck features. The mat= ron head, the partial word "LIBERTY" on the headband and the stars,.....the= re are 15 stars making this the only year of 1817. The date cannot be seen. COMMENT: In 32 years, I have seen hundreds of "outside the mint" concoction= s and "trick" coins,..............this "is not" any of those,.that is guara= nteed! I am an ex-EAC and C-4 copper collector who today, still active only= as a collector and in my past 32 years, have discovered several "NC's" and= other major Sheldon and NewComb varieties.=20 REFERENCE: I can supply the skeptical viewer with "top-notch" references. PROBABLE HISTORY OF THIS COIN: Either a; true "double head" large cent that= was perhaps used as a "die set-up" piece to adjust the correct distance of= the dies before striking the entire business run. On the reverse, which I = feel that it is, is terminal die sinking from K-6 up to K11 obliverating th= e stars completely. I have never seen this on any 1817 cents for any of the= NewComb varieties. NOW ANOTHER IS that this also could be a "Flip-over" st= rike,....however, on either side, no evidence of the wreath or lettering ca= n be seen,......but that would not be that uncommon due to the "Die State" = from one of the sides, the reverse where the die had sunk, so therefore, th= e striking pressure could not push the metal up into the die design, that w= ould cause a extremely weak reverse and with the condition of wear, GOOD-4,= ..no reverse wreath or lettering features could be seen. BOTTOM LINE" either way, a true authentic "Error" that could very well be a= one of a kind. I have never seen a legitimate double head large cent in 32= years but I have seen a couple legitimate double reverses GUARANTEE: Authentic 100000000000000000000000000000% RETURN POLICY: You will have 21 days from the time you recieve this large c= ent for a return for a full refund. WE ARE FINE ARTS OF MICHIGAN AS A BUSINESS, HOWEVER, THIS SALE IS FROM MY C= OLLECTION HAS DOES NOT REPRESENT MY BUSINESS WHATSOEVER. PAYMENT & SHIPPING; PAYPAL is perfered but check or postal money order = is fine. You will have 5 days from auction end to have payment submitted. W= ORLDWIDE SHIPPING IS FREE. Our gallery pays all insurance and tracking to y= ou! IF YOU LOVE FINE ART then please view our auctions! Thank you!
