    > Summary
    > 1817 Matron Head Large Cent, eitherway, a "unique" major error=20
    within the series.
    > PLEASE NOTE that the coin pictured below is 1000% better then what=20
the picture indicates. being copper, it is hard to lighten to a=20
pleasurable viewing level. Always a full refund!!!!!!!!
    > First of All, this listing may seem odd, but I have been a copper=20
collector for 32 years and an ex-EAC and C-4 member. I am well known=20
within the EAC community, so my credentials are superb.
    > What I am offering, is a "genuine" large cent that is a major;=20
error and certainly extremely rare or even "unique" This large cent=20
has two obverses and is considered a "double-head" or a "Flip over=20
strike" however, the reverse undertype cannot be seen at all due to=20
the low condition of the coin itself. Please read=20
    on,..................................................................
    ......................!
    > AUTHENTIC: Yes, without any doubts. This is based on examination=20
that there are no seams, casting marks, re engraving, tooling and=20
put-together impairments on the coin, on the edge, rim or fields=20
near the edge,.................it is perfect and any circulated cent=20
    should be!
    > COLOR OF THE COIN: This large cent is 100% original in color and=20
wear. No pre-existing burnishing, scratches, abrassives or chemical=20
make-up in on this coin,................100% natural.
    > THE RING TEST: is perfect for a natural large cent and not a dull=20
thumping sound. any impairments to this coin would leave a dull=20
    suspicious sound.
    > SIZE AND WEIGHT: The size and weight are "perfect" for the grade=20
    of this coin, GOOD-4.
    > SURFACE DESCRIPTION: Bothsides show "full obverse" struck=20
features. The matron head, the partial word "LIBERTY" on the=20
headband and the stars,.....there are 15 stars making this the only=20
year of 1817. The date cannot be seen.
    > COMMENT: In 32 years, I have seen hundreds of "outside the mint"=20
concoctions and "trick" coins,..............this "is not" any of=20
    those,.that is guaranteed! I am an ex-EAC and C-4 copper collector=20
who today, still active only as a collector and in my past 32 years,=20
have discovered several "NC's" and other major Sheldon and NewComb=20
    varieties.=20
    > REFERENCE: I can supply the skeptical viewer with "top-notch"=20
    references.
    > PROBABLE HISTORY OF THIS COIN: Either a; true "double head" large=20
cent that was perhaps used as a "die set-up" piece to adjust the=20
correct distance of the dies before striking the entire business=20
run. On the reverse, which I feel that it is, is terminal die=20
sinking from K-6 up to K11 obliverating the stars completely. I have=20
never seen this on any 1817 cents for any of the NewComb varieties.=20
NOW ANOTHER IS that this also could be a "Flip-over"=20
strike,....however, on either side, no evidence of the wreath or=20
lettering can be seen,......but that would not be that uncommon due=20
to the "Die State" from one of the sides, the reverse where the die=20
had sunk, so therefore, the striking pressure could not push the=20
metal up into the die design, that would cause a extremely weak=20
reverse and with the condition of wear, GOOD-4,..no reverse wreath=20
or lettering features could be seen.
    > BOTTOM LINE" either way, a true authentic "Error" that could very=20
well be a one of a kind. I have never seen a legitimate double head=20
large cent in 32 years but I have seen a couple legitimate double=20
    reverses
