    John,
I don't think you're going to get the same definition from digitally photographing a coin as you would a piece of pottery. I'd like to see the photo's you worked from to make that decision. You also hold a degree in archeology. That combined with your obvious research ability and tenacity would make the ossuary popping up after 2000 years in Israel seem easier to decide on for you than where and when a coin people have debated for 100+ years was minted. Less argument....get back to work!!<s>

Stan, I appreciate where you are coming from in your
comments. I am sure you take great pleasure and pride
of ownership of your 75 copper St. Patrick farthings.
I am pleased and happy for you that you have
stewardship of them and I am confident that you are an
excellent curator of what you have.

I never owned an ossuary, nor did I ever physically
see or examine the original Oded Golan specimen. But,
when it was first published in October 2002, on the
very first day of its public debut, I was able to
determine it had a fake inscription cut through an
    authentic patina, through high-resolution digital
    photographs. The Israel Antiquities Authority
contacted me immediately to discuss this. Since then
they brought the ossuary into their lab and proved my
assessment was correct. This made world news. The
persons involved in the forgery ring have been
arrested and the case has gone to trial.

Not owning a single farthing, I am confident that I
can do similar quality research on them and the
halfpennies as well in all the various metals.

I am sure too that you thoroughly enjoy the
proprietary right of the 1500+ Noyes photos. However,
I hope you can appreciate that the Noyes photos are
not the only photos in existence. There are others,
more low profiled than yourself, who may own
considerable more St. Patrick coins than yourself, and
who do not need the Noyes photos since they can take
their own, having all the copyright privileges.

I wish you, Brian Danforth, and John Griffee the best
success in all your endeavors researching and
publishing on the St. Patrick coinage.
