This specimen is not a die state but is, instead, the result of a too=20
soft planchet which received a light strike and did not fill the=20
reverse die while in the "liquid" state but flowed into the least=20
resistant die cavity, the too deeply cut head on the obverse. As a=20
result it closely resembles a brockage.
This type of striking failure can be nicely repeated on a hydraulic=20
press where the striking pressure can be very carefully controlled.
