Steve, et al
The Machins JEANe copy on the Machin's eSIG are still posted. The=20
photos are complete except that the source data is all messed up.=20
Because of the lack of cooperation - especially from C4 - we have been=20
unable to fix them. A few of the datum are OK -- most are not.

The Machin's are missing everywhere....that is the major contributing=20
factor to regal and non-regal British coins being mis-labeled as=20
Machin's Mills pieces. I
guess when we finally possess 12 of each variety, it will be time to=20
let the rest of the world have the key to attributing these, although=20
there will surely be those
who continue to mis-attribute based on ill-conceived notions, poor=20
understanding of facts, and greed.

Thanks, Eric and Steve......speaking of the Notre Dame site I=20
went there to try to attribute this coin but this variety is missing.=20
The Machins are
pretty incomplete.....but I will pass on this information and=20
the link to the ND site.

Hi Stan...it's a 23-88A...R2...but looks to be in nice=20
shape....I wouldn't mind owning it!! Tell "Sledge" he has a nice find.=20
Point him towards
the Notre Dame group to read more about the MM's and the=20
difference between British and American made counterfeits...Hopefully=20
it will
catch on....Right now there is a guy selling a 1781 Irish=20
halfpenny as a Machin's Mills coin, and another selling a British=20
counterfeit 1/2d as a
"British made counterfeit of a Machin's Mill halfpenny"....Steve

I have what I believe to be a Machin Mills coin. I do=20
not know much about this type of coin, but I did buy a Red book and it
looks like a Machin Mills coin. It has the date 1788 on=20
it. I then began to search on the internet. I came across this web site
and I live in your district so I thought I would start=20
with you. I live in a rural area of Mississippi and I do not know of=20
anyone to
ask about this.=20

I did make a digital image of it. Can you help me=20
identify this coin and tell me if it has any historical significance.=20=20
I would
appreciate it.

Let me know if you have an interest. I can email an image=20
if you do.
