Interestingly, Newman had cited a lack of earlier British=20
documentation of the 1785-dated counterfeits as his premise that=20
these counterfeits were made in England specifically for export to=20
America - sort of a double standard when you think about it. The=20
true=20
and only differences between the 1785 counterfeits and V.14-84A=20
basically being design style. We now know that several counterfeits=20
of this date now resting in American collections came from Britain=20
via eBay and that many varieties of crude style counterfeits were=20
made in England.=20
