See the file called elephants. I just purchased a coffee table book=20
depicting a seventeenth century atlas. The maps contain some=20
intereting vignettes, including some of elephants. One, in particular,=20
looks like the one on the London/Carolina/New England elephant tokens.=20
Not sure if these have been highlighted before, but you might find=20
them interesting. There are undoubtedly numerous depictions of=20
elephants from the period, so I'm not suggesting that this was=20
necessarily the inspiration for the tokens.=20=20
