Hi All, I don't normally forward any types of commercial newsletters, but being that Stack's and ANR are merging (and both firms have a strong presence in colonial numismatics), I figured I'd let you read the newsletter. The article about the merge is about half way down the page.

Two Numismatic Icons Combine Talents
Stack's of New York City and American Numismatic Rarities (ANR) of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire announce they will be merging their efforts in the numismatic marketplace. Stack's and ANR are combining forces under the Stack's banner to create a firm that includes a virtual Who's Who of Modern Numismatics. As the firms move forward together, the legacies and talents of Stack's, ANR, Harvey G. Stack, and Q. David Bowers will offer to the collecting public the finest numismatic service organization in history.
Stack's headquarters will remain in New York City where it has been serving collectors for over 75 years and operations will also continue in Wolfeboro where the ANR team is located. Lawrence R. Stack (CEO, Director of Numismatics) will continue his numismatic leadership of the firm while Christine Karstedt (president) will oversee auction operations and customer service. Also included in this star-studded team will be world-renowned numismatic experts Q. David Bowers (chairman emeritus), Harvey G. Stack (chairman emeritus), Susan Stack and the entire expert staff from both companies.
Under the banner of Stack's, the combined expertise covers many decades in numismatics and will continue serving the numismatic community for generations to come. Larry Stack stated "This merger brings together the greatest names and reputations in numismatics and the new company will be able to offer its customers unparalleled experience, knowledge and service.'' Christine Karstedt enthusiastically added "Over the years, Stack's and ANR have worked together on several projects and each time these joint efforts have produced results far beyond what either of us had imagined. The synergies created by our merger will enable us to expand our services to the benefit of the worldwide numismatic community. Our combined efforts will further the Stack's legacy of service to the collector by increasing online gallery sales, auction sales, book sales, and providing collecting information and expertise to the public."
"Chris and I are very proud of our new team and look forward to having such great talent working together under a name that has been important in the numismatic arena for over 75 years. And, as if that isn't enough, we have Harvey and Dave to guide us with their decades of extraordinary success in the hobby" commented a delighted Larry Stack.
Both firms will go forward with all previously scheduled auction sales conducted as originally announced. The new company will be expanding its gallery and auction sales of coins, tokens, medals, and paper money in all specialties, ancient to modern. All contact information for the combined companies and personnel will remain the same respectively. For further information, contact Larry Stack at 800-566-2580 or Christine Karstedt at 866-811-1804. To consign, sell or buy numismatic material, please call the numbers listed above.
New Purchases
Please find below some exciting highlights from our paper money purchases newly listed on our website.
$5. F-90. Legal Tender. Series of 1907. PMG 55. (View Image) Bright 1907 Elliott-White Legal Tender $5 Exceptional Paper Quality. With virtually full original brightness, this Legal Tender Note with the famous Pioneer Family motif will certainly satisfy.
Serial H59995248. Plate D7/27. $795
$2. F-42. Legal Tender. Series of 1869. PMG 50. (View Image) Important 1869 $2 Rainbow Note Exceptional Paper Quality. The $2 denomination is the scarcest in the entire Rainbow series from the $1 through the $10. Uncirculated examples are few and far between on the current market, and attractive AU pieces, as here, are not easy to find either. The present bill is well printed and has a bright green overprint, blue tinted paper, pink Treasury Seal, and red serial numbers, plus green printing on the back. When we saw this we bought it instantly. You'll agree that it is an exceptional value.
Number 40 in The 100 Greatest American Currency Notes book.
Serial U6047999. Plate 13C. $5,995
$1. F-227. Silver Certificate. Series of 1899. PMG 66. (View Image) Scarce Lyons-Treat 1899 $1 Silver Certificate Exceptional Paper Quality. The Lyons-Treat signature combination is generally regarded as the second scarcest among the 1899 Black Eagle Notes. The present piece combines scarcity with extraordinary quality, here graded Uncirculated-6. Excellent printing, nice margins, and overall a wonderful note.
Number 16 in The 100 Greatest American Currency Notes book.
Serial H45901401. Plate A3208/1632. $1,950
$5. F-268. Silver Certificate. Series of 1896. PMG 40. (View Image) Attractive $5 Educational Series Exceptional Paper Quality. Separated from a higher grade by some old folds, scarcely visible, this Educational Note has bright colors and is attractive overall. The motif of Electricity as the Dominant Force in the World exceeds in ornateness any other subject on an American currency note, although it certainly has some fine competition.
Number 5 in The 100 Greatest American Currency Notes book.
Serial 683191. Plate C10. $8,100
$20. F-321. Silver Certificate. Series of 1891. PMG 40. (View Image) Attractive 1891 Parker-Burke $20 Silver Certificate A very attractive note that retains virtually full original printing color and quality. As a general rule, Choice and Gem $20 issues of this era are very expensive. The present note has almost the appearance of an Uncirculated example and offers a good value for the price paid.
Serial H748460. Plate 8D/23. $4,800
$50. F-1193. Gold Certificate. Series of 1882. PMG 25. (View Image) Attractive But Inexpensive $50 Gold Certificate With colors closely approaching the brightness of when the face was printed, and with an attractive orange back, this note is graded as only VF-25 but has excellent eye appeal. A purchase possibility for anyone desiring a nice note for a truly reasonable price.
Serial C1460507. Plate C6. $4,800
$500. F-1216a. Gold Certificate. Series of 1882. PMG 30. (View Image) Impressive 1882 $500 Gold Certificate Minor Restoration. Color printing on the face is about as bright as when this note was first printed. The reverse is a medium orange. High denomination Gold Certificates are rarities, and bills such as this often come on the market only when great collections are sold. If you are building a great collection, here is an opportunity.
Number 49 in The 100 Greatest American Currency Notes book.
Serial D37169. Plate A2. $26,000
$50. F-2404. Gold Certificate. Series of 1928. PMG 64. (View Image) Choice 1928 $50 Gold Certificate With excellent margins, bright color, and superb eye appeal, this bill will please the most exacting buyer. Ideal for a type set of 20th century issues.
Serial A00961845A. Plate I8/1. $5,500
Happy Collecting,
Melissa Karstedt
