Hi Guys,
Thinking about the Numismatic Sun, on page 12 is a picture of three teens having fun together. Vicken Yegparian and John Kraljevich were two of the teens (both are currently professional numismatists with Stack's). I knew them both when they were teens and the wiz-kids of colonial numismatics. Now they're the wiz-twentysomethings (I think they're still in their 20's). Also on page 33, the second picture from the top is a picture of Christine Karstedt and Roger Siboni taken at the ANS dinner in January, honoring Chet Krause. They are both so photogenic... Diane and I were fortunate to have been able to attend this event and had a wonderful time.
On Page 50 is a wonderful article by David Bowers entitled "The Talent of Jacob Perkins". David Bower's writing ability combined with such an interesting topic makes for a good read! If you're not on Stack's mailing list, you might be able to borrow a copy from the C4 Library (Leo, do we get the Numismatic Suns?). Jacob Perkins was Boston's answer to Philadelphia's Rittenhouse. I think the only reason we don't hear more about Perkins is because he moved back to England. But he was responsible for the engraving of some of the 1788 MA copper dies, and most famous for his Washington Funeral Medals.
I enjoyed this issue and I hope Randy contacts Stack's to get an answer to his inquiry about the VT Copper. Oh... If you look closely enough, there are coins, books and paper money for sale too. <BG
