I actually thought that maybe they said Washington on purpose!
Sort of like a statement as opposed to fact. Obviously everyone=20
involved with Machins' output of "King George" style halfpence would=20
themselves pay no due to George. The allegorical figure just looked=20
similar enough to fit in. The same is true of the fact that the=20
reverse Brittania becomes "Liberty", or perhaps Martha Washington?!
Stacks is certainly not immune to an "occasional" error. Simply look=20
at the upcoming Baltimore sale. It took me one half of one second to=20
realize that lot #2 is not an oak 7 but the much scarcer 6. A big=20
mistake in my book!
