Byron, I have not heard back from Jim, but I am assuming he is doing the right thing, which was to not harvest it( or the second post) for inclusion in his database of photos, as I specifically asked. David

David, You are under the mistaken impression that by posting your friend's image here that you have essentially given Jim/CNLF permission to harvest it and do with it as he/they please. You have not! Byron

Jeff, You make good points here. My only point was that I don't own the photo rights to the coin I posted. It is ok for people to download it for personal use only. It would not be good for the photo to show up somehwer= e else, without the photographer's permission. As I said to Jim, I made the intial mistake in posting it to an open group, because I think of this as C4's group, which it isn't. David

Hey Guys, had to chime in on this one -- I think if someone posts a file= =20 here they should know that anyone who is a member of the group can download it=20 and save it. While you could ask people not to do so, chances are you wis= h
will not be granted by everyone, especially if it is a neat coin.
Perhaps clearly labelling the piece, and putting a copyright notice on the=20 picture would make some think about using it in any way, but I would gues= s that=20 area was legally murky at best.
The other option is to privately e-mail such images to people you know who=20 will follow your instructions, but then a lot of people who may be interested=20 won't have the chance to see something.
In the end, a public domain is...as Jim pointed out...public.
