Awesome coin! Despite the apparent cross of St. George on his shield, I'm pretty sure that this is St. Michael the Archangel. Those funny things on the left and right of the main figure are his wings, I think. The dragon looks so unusual because it isn't any old dragon, but actually the devil in the form of a dragon. The image refers to Revelation 12:7-8 in which Michael leading the other angels drives Satan out of heaven.
