Marc, Buell and all... At a C4 meeting a couple years ago, we discussed the advantages and disadvantages of different size and format C4 Newsletters. The present newsletter format was what was voted upon. The advantage of the large loose-leaf format is that we can publish full size plates, the editor can publish the newsletter in page quantities divisible by 2 instead of 4, a chart or page could be photocopied for personal use without distortion, it can be stored in three ring binders, manila folders in a file cabinet or bound into a nice book format. The current size has proven to be advantageous as I don't know how we would have fit all the material into the smaller formats. I do realize that some prefer the smaller stapled format and who knows, maybe we'll change back again in another 10 years... <BG> The C4 officers just want what is most useful to the membership while not too burdensome to the editor, while keeping an eye on the costs. Thinking of the Mike Hodder years as editor, I cherish those issues and the history of the beginning days of C4. Mike was instrumental in bringing C4 to fruition. The original thoughts was to keep C4 very informal, meeting at national conventions and having a newsletter. C4 has evolved into something larger than originally planned for, but I hope we can always maintain that friendly informal atmosphere. That is a big part of what I like so much about the C4 Conventions. I'm sure that most agree. Ray

Marc, I too prefer the old style, so there are two of us. Actually, the new style is the old style. I just looked at the first newsletters (the Hodder era) and they are loose sheets of 8 1/2"x 11" paper too. I think it was generaally regarded as an improvement when the stapled format appeared. And now the return to the earlier style is again generally regarded as an improvement. Can something really be improved twice and end up as it started?
Maybe the loose leaf style can be bound, but almost no one will have it done. But it does seem that the majority likes this 'loose sheets of paper' direction. And after all, it is the content that counts! And with Syd as editor, the newsletters have been great. I also submitted articles to Dan Friedus and Angel Pietri when they served as editor. They too get very high marks in my book! I don't recall submitting articles to Hodder or others who held the position. Buell
