Happy New Year to all my friends on this list!
2007 was witness to several sad events for colonial numismatists - the passing of John Griffee and Mike Ringo (and others in numismatics). John Griffee single-handedly was responsible for me becoming addicted to NJ Coppers. Mike Ringo just left us way before his time. Both were respected and liked by all - John's enthusiasm, Mike's extensive knowledge, and the willingness of both of them to help others.
But 2007 had some great times too! The conclusion of the Ford Sales - an awesome set of catalogs that will be referenced for generations to come. The NY International Show with Leo Shane. The ANS Gala Dinner with Diane at the Waldorf Astoria. The EAC Convention in St Louis - Eric Newman and his museum, dinner afterwards, colonial happening... The Red Rose show meeting Byron and Charlie for lunch... The Summer ANA in Milwaukee, educational events, C4 Membership meeting, receiving the ANA's Glenn Smedley Award, coming home with coins and less money... The Barbecue in Mantoloking, great food, friends, coins and conversations... The C4 Convention, the educational events, buying coins, selling coins, buying a meteorite (!), presenting Bob Vlack's daughter with his C4 Lifetime Achievement Award, buying dinner at Legal Seafood <BG>, purchasing a copy of Syd's Hibernia Book, and the many people telling me what a wonderful time they had!
Those are some of the more momentous events. Then there are the issues of CNL and the C4 Newsletter to brighten up my life, posts on this group and others. Phone calls. Meeting for lunch in Woodbridge. Meeting for lunch in PA. I meet with Leo Shane and Syd Martin every couple months and enjoy some food, show-n-tell and just good conversation about the hobby. You should all make time for a two hour lunch hour like that every once in a while...

My New Years wish for all of you is to have as much fun as I'm having!
Looking at the schedule for 2008, it's going to be a great year to collect colonials!
    Happy New Year!

    Ray
