thanks david...the groove is in the center of the edge...as if you could pu=
t a screw driver in there and pry the two pieces apart. i have done a fairl=
y quick job of scanning the edge at certain points as labeled.although the =
edge encircles the entire coin, there is a part where it almost spirals at =
the cud and opposite area creating two grooves...tough for me to explain. h=
aving to wedge the coin between my cell phone and a h and l hastings triple=
t glass box i could not be very accurate with the scans, but they are bette=
r than the freehand photo's. the color is as is the case with scans...origi=
nal seller=A0pics were very close. i've posted several scans as labeled...a=
ppx area. as i rarely buy anything lately, i have to bore everyone a little=
with what excites me and i appoligize for that to those who don't find the=
se oddities fascinating, and whether or not you collect counterfeits, i enc=
ourage anyone to comment on how this was made. thanks again to
    all...steve....geez...almost midnight on christmas eve....3 more minutes..=
    ..and i havent seen it's a wonderful life, a christmas story or a christmas=
carol yet this year...but alvin and the chipmunks was beginning to annoy m=
e on my classic rock station in the cab....[s]

Steve, This is a very neat coin. I would love to see a closeup of the edge =
right where the CUD is on the obverse. That would probably tell us quite al=
ot. My first reaction is same as yours, CAST. The edge is very different th=
an normally seen, I think. Is the groove raised on the edge or indented? Th=
e pics make it look like it is a groove along the edge raher than a raised =
seam. Or is it my tired eyes?<S> David

does anyone have any good photo's of edges on cast coins. the 1751 i reciev=
ed is definitely a fabrication in my opinion...which is not worth much at t=
his point since i'm asking for the photo's. the 1751 i recieved has a fairl=
y deep seam running around the entire edge...not seeing any casting port. l=
ooks more like two halves created and then put togther afterwards. there is=
absolutely no ring so i will do a specific gravity test following the terr=
ific method and tools given to me by buell. my scale needs a battery so tha=
t will have to wait. i took a couple really bad pics with a canon powershot=
sd40 no one claimed in the cab a year or so ago...which is almost impossib=
le since the camera is so small and my finger dexterity is comparable to to=
ny gallento wearing mittens. any thoughts or pics would be appreciated. pri=
vate is fine. thanks in advance...back to last minute shopping. i used to j=
oke that i did all my christmas shopping at 7-11 and quick
chek....now they sell visa gift cards so i probably will.
