Steve, that was the year everyone met you but me I think! Oh well,
hopefully this year buddy! The toys you were talking about were called humdingers --
two holes in a coin, you thread a piece of string through the holes, tie it,
wind it up and pull, and the coin zips back and forth making a neat humming
sound. A cheap toy in an era before video games! I've also seen coins that
were clearly used as buttons -- again a cheap substitute, especially if it
was a thin counterfeit that could have been bought for less than a halfpenny (I
have a Vermont copper button somewhere -- four holes, looking just like a
button should, slightly cupped in shape as well. Neat stuff).

Wound up sweating out the flu and missed the C4 auction. Had a great time, but
that pretty much ruined the trip. All that action and fun going on downstairs
and I was lying in a dark room under the covers sweating my ass off thinking
about all the good times I was missing out on. Oh well. Hope to make it next
