    Hi Guys,
    I do plan to buy a new camera in the near future but my current camera has "spot metering" and I center the square on the coin and it adjusts for what is in the square, ignoring the background colors. I wonder if the Nikon SLRs have that feature?

    That description sounds more like underexposure. Have you tried a few shades of grey backgrounds?
